Is There Still Life Outsde?
Since I'm not around a whole lot. I miss you guys! Busy, busy! Which is actually a good thing but sometimes the late nights, early mornings, the inability to remember how to make a knit stitch or work the remote control for the TV...... it makes me wonder. What should I be when I grow up?
| You Should Be in the Military |
![]() And while you can be ruthless in getting what you want, you also have a compassionate side. You are able to balance your own desires with the needs of others. You'll do almost anything to get the job done, but you're not willing to step on anyone's toes. You do best when you: - Are working with others - Are in a fast paced environment You would also be a good CEO or school principal. |
Huh. Didn't see that one coming. The military? The description is fairly accurate, as long as "extremely hard worker" is followed by "long period of such productive activity as knitting, reading, pestering the cat and staring at clouds."
Speaking of TV shows (weren't we?) watch Jericho. DB Sweeney is back as Goetz from Ravenwood which normally I would be quite jazzed about but since he was also in Strange Luck and Harsh Realm and I loved both of them before they were cancelled......It's getting really good. Even the twerpy Dean wasn't twerpy.
What's going on with Lost? It's actually been pretty awesome, possibly because I LOVE time travel/time paradox/parallel universe stories. Desmond and Penny's relationship is now a complete cypher. They haven't been together since they broke up before 1996? Seriously? I'm starting to really like Daniel.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles are doing the same flash back/flash forward time traveling thing but I'm still trying to make sense of them. (I just watch Lost uncritically now. If it eventually makes sense, yay. If not? Oh well. As long as I don't have to watch Jack parade around in his righteous whatever, I'm happy.) I'm also getting a kick out of seeing David from 90210 as John's uncle-from-the-future.
Law & Order continues to be so good!
Alas, Lipstick Jungle is a bit of a mess. I unreasonably hate Kim Raver so much that I can't watch her for long and for some reason Andrew McCarthy is creeping me out, I have no idea why, I like him normally. Paul Blackthorne is hot which is allways a good reason to watch a show.
Dr. Carson Beckett is back on Stargate Atlantis! Well, at least they found him in a Wraith/Human hybrid holding cell. Is it really him? Is he a replicator? Is Dr. Kaylee getting replaced?
Stupid HGTV revamped their TV schedule today. I want to see Knitty Gritty! It's been on at 7am on Fridays only and Simply Quilts at 8am every day. (Pacific time) Not today. Boo. At least I noticed it before I ran out the door and stopped the tape. Simply Quilts looks like it'll be back on Tuesday. Wednesday's show will be featuring Kaffe Fassett. What can I say? I love coming home after working 8500 hours and watching the amazing things people do with fabric.
Speaking of amazing things with fabric, isn't that buttonhole band gorgeous? Here, look.
Look sideways. For some reason, the iPhone doesn't like to take pictures the angle I want it to, no matter which way I hold it. It's similar to my copy machine constantly rotating the image when I don't want it rotated! Gah. Machines.
I'm three inches from the underarm shaping, still on the right front. I was really hoping to have this done at the beginning of Feb and now I'm just hoping to have it done sometime this winter/spring.
Hez chortles at that. See how she sits with her paws over the edge? It's really cute when she hangs her whole arm over.

Ok, it said I should be a social worker or stay-at-home parent. UMMMMMMMMMMMMM.... no. No way in the world! I'm much happier in my little technogeeky world where I don't have to talk to people!
Gorgeous cables, gorgeous button band. I love when kitties do arm dangles, too. That's the thing that I like best from my Chaos at the vet photos.

Maybe I shouldn't have based my choice on the pretty colours because they sure don't wear those in the Military ;-)
Does this mean you like doing buttonholes now? Traitor!
Did Andrew McCarthy shrink?

I can't stand Kim Raver either! She bugs. Go Team Beckett.

I'm loving Jericho. I hope they keep it going.
I hope you get some relief from the working purgatory soon.

Well, I don't have too much confidence in this particular test. Mine said I should be a politician of all horrific things, with alternates of lawyer or game show host. Yikes.
Lovely buttonband. Fab picture of Hez. She's gorgeous!
I'm loving Jericho, Lost, and L&O. We recently discovered Las Vegas so we watching the old ones.

Well, I had to try that quiz..and it came up politician. Or Lawyer. Which is funny b/c one of my coworkers says I should be a lawyer since I'm so good at arguing my point. Go figure.

I'm not sure I would have picked you for the military myself, but I can see you in parts of the description.
I evidently should be a mechanic. While I can go along with the description (You are logical, calm, and detail oriented. You're rational when things are chaotic, and for you, reason always prevails. And while you are guided by logic, you aren't a slave to it. You're flexible when it counts. You are always open to being wrong.), this is so not me:
You do best when you:
- Work with your hands
- Can use tools, machines, or equipment
You would also be a good architect or carpenter.
I am so behind in Lost. Two episodes, I think. Maybe that's not very behind, but behind enough. I'm just letting things unfold as they go. That's all I can do.
Have a great weekend, Carrie!

I thought I heard that Knitty Gritty was getting canceled? Was that a false rumor?

Hehe that expression on Hez's face is priceless.
Apparently I should be a doctor!!
Posted by: mrspao | February 29, 2008 at 10:35 PM
I am supposed to be a teacher - or a nurse or non-fiction writer ...
Well, after all of your angst, that is a nice buttonhole!
When cats sit like Hez is sitting, it just cracks me up.

I'm supposed to be a doctor. The only problem is, I like to run around with scissors and other sharp pointy objects.
What is the pattern you are knitting. That is really beautiful! covet, covet, drool, drool

Oh, lovely cables! Lovely Hez
Posted by: Chris | March 01, 2008 at 07:30 AM
Those are awesome button holes. Truly amazing! None of the shows I watch have come back from the strike, yet. Sorry, no Jericho for me.
Posted by: Jeanne | March 01, 2008 at 08:41 AM
I shoulda been a doctor.
Um, NOT.
Hez is adorable no matter what she does.
Never mind the buttonholes - those cables are gorgeous. Can't wait to see the whole sweater!

I'm supposed to be a teacher. Heh. I AM a teacher! But it does say that I would make a good nonfiction writer, and with my dissertation experience, I'd say that's a big NO! I just turned in my application for the DVC job - fingers crossed!

Hez is looking gorgeous and so is your buttonhole band!
Posted by: Geraldine | March 01, 2008 at 12:56 PM
it said I should be a doctor...Hmmm...there is a reason I haven't taken a bio class in 20 years and stuck with the non-gooey sciences like geology and physics.
Love the cabely-goodness!
Posted by: heather | March 01, 2008 at 06:20 PM
I do love the stitch on that button band.
Military, huh? That's a weird one. I think I'll go take that test, too. Bet it will have me an English teacher, eh?
Posted by: Becky | March 02, 2008 at 01:22 AM
LOL - me! A Politician! A Lawyer! OK, but the Talk Show Host I can do...
You mean Dale wasn't so twerpy? I know, 'bout time. It was a GOOD episode. But Eric. Dorkus. Poor Beck...maybe he'll hook up with Heather?!!
Hez looks cute all the time...
Posted by: Brigitte | March 02, 2008 at 07:25 AM
Wow, the military, wouldn't see that for you either, what would Hez do?
OK, onto TV talk with Carrie, cuz I actually watched some tv this week: Jericho, loving it, and that Sweeney guy does evil a little too well... Lost, well I believe the word you are looking for is Indignation and I couldn't agree more, I like the shows without all the Jack martyred angst... Lipstick Jungle: Andrew McCarthy is just plain creepy in this, and I like home too, who could forget that movie, what was it called (?) with Mollie. The thin lips and the hawkish eyes, he's too much molester to Victory's youth... "kay, that's all I know about, Except that gor-ja-mous button band... OOOO.
Posted by: Liz | March 02, 2008 at 10:30 AM
ok, that should have been "I like HIM", not home, tho I like home too... ok too much coffee it seems...
Posted by: Liz | March 02, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Carrie- "Works well with others"- that's a plus, isn't it?
Nice buttonband ya got there.
Hez looks suspended in air.
Posted by: Lorraine | March 03, 2008 at 06:16 AM
Yeep - it said I should be a doctor. I don't like blood! Especially other people's blood, it freaks me out even more than my own because I don't konw how hurt they are and/or how to help! Very pretty cables you are knitting and fuzzyface Hez is picking up some rays in that sunlight ;)
Posted by: rhelynn | March 03, 2008 at 07:33 AM
Oooooh, pretty button band! I get to watch no TV. The husband and the kid take over, so I just sit and knit.
I should be a mechanic, carpenter or architect. Interesting - the descriptions are pretty good, but really, I should have picked the one that says, "You should be a lazy kept woman."
